Got back from Jon & John expecting an interview with Barry Dransfield but was able to download a miserable 10 minutes or so. However, just in time for the Elsie's Band track. The song is 'St Malo', the tune of which they were cunningly combining with 'Highland Mary'. It's an 18th century naval song about having not much to do so why not sail off and burn down St Malo, as you do.

What a f**k**g disaster last week's show was! Not only would the technology not manage to put us through to Barry Dransfield, the archive didn't bother to work, so there's only ten minutes of it there: Elsie's Band as wonderfully identified by Diane, plus Barry D's favourite new band, Bragod.
As Johnny wasn't able to come in to do his normal Local Bands show, I then did an off the cuff Random Noises with what was in the studio - ten minutes or so of which didn't broadcast as one of the wires few out!
Anyway, we've been promised a new mixing desk in time for next week's show, so hopefully all will be well from now on (fingers crossed).

Ah yes, Barry D is going absolutely bananas about Bragod. He's been on the BBC board as Jerry Fieldmouse (as in Morris On) raving on about them. I hope you can get him to talk about other things tomorrow: like Violin Worshop's plans for various reissues and whether he'll re-record any of the 'lost' stuff with Robin.
